Mayan apocalypse nears: government and NASA say nothing will happen

Friday, NASA released a video about the nearing date of the Mayan apocalypse; millions of people believe that Mayan apocalypse predicts that the world will end next week, on December 21, 2012. The U.S. government and NASA deny that this is true and Friday they offered evidence to support their theory. See the video below.

The Mayan calendar ends on Dec. 21, 2012 and no one seems to be sure exactly why that is. Many people believe that it will just start over, while others believe that it is the end of life as we know it.

In the video, «Why the World Didn’t End Yesterday,” NASA explains why the world won’t end and shows some research from people who have been following the Mayan apocalypse over the last several decades. They explain that the calendar simply starts over, much like an odometer in a car with a limit of 99,999 miles that would start over again.

The NASA video follows the work of Dr. John Carlson, a scientist who has been eagerly been following the Mayan apocalypse for over three decades. Carlson said:

Other NASA experts have stated that if a giant meteor or asteroid were coming at the Earth to destroy it, then we would know about it by now.
